Uncommon Filipino Words



Language is the soul of a country. Through this, you'll have the chance to infiltrate and learn a country's culture, beliefs and etc. I am a pure Filipino. I lived in the Philippines since birth. Philippines have a lot of languages but I can only understand 2 of those. Iloco and Tagalog. I'm already an expert in these two not until I found out about these Filipino uncommon words. Here are some example of Filipino uncommon words, their meanings, and how I used them in a sentence:

1. Anluwage
English Term: Carpenter
Sentence: 
Ang sirang kabinet ay inayos ng isang anluwage.

2. Pahimakas
English Term: Last Farewell
Sentence:
Nagsisisi si Rosa na hinayaan pa niyang umalis ang asawa dahil iyon na pala ang pahimakas nito.

3. Alimusom
English Term: Scent
Sentence:
Ang alimusom ng babaeng dumaan ay napakabango.

4. Gat
English Term: Sir
Sentence:
Si Gat Jose Rizal ang pambansang bayani ng Pilipinas.

5. Antipatra
English Term: Eyeglasses
Sentence:
Gumagamit ng antipatra si Juana dahil malabo ang kanyang mga mata.

6. Batlag
English Term: Car
Sentence:
Ang pamilya Montecarlos ay mayrong napakagarang batlag sapagkat sila'y mayaman.

7. Kalupi
English Term: Wallet
Sentence:
Hinugot ko ang kalupi mula sa aking bulsa upang magbayad ng upa.

8. Pulot-gata
English Term: Honeymoon
Sentence:
Pagkatapos ng kasal ni Ramon at Ramona ay lumipad sila papuntang Maldives para sa kanilang pulot-gata.

9. Dupil
English Term: Amulet
Sentence:
Binigyan ako ng dupil ni ina bilang regalo sa aking kaarawan.

10. Duyog
English Term: Eclipse
Sentence:
Nagkaroon ng duyog noong nakaraang buwan.
